Front row of level 2, excellent unobstructed view of the stage, spoiled slightly by the placing of the speakers which hid some of the large screen. Not a total disaster as the screen was mainly used for graphics, not for on stage footage. Excellent sound, good seat.

Second row from the front, what could go wrong? Well, the sound was a bit odd. I can't say if it is just the way it was set up, or if this is a common feature. The band, and vocals, sounded normal, but the guitar sounded strangely disconnected. Possibly due to be directly in front of the monitor and/or on stage amp. The effect was that the guitar was crystal clear, just not part of the overall sound. Possibly further back would have been better.

Superb seat - back row of terraced seating behind the stalls. Excellent unobstructed view. The front section of the stalls at this venue are flat, and you can be unlucky with someone tall sitting in front, the rear stalls are sloped, so a bit better, but although the terrace is further back, it has a steeper slope and therefore better views. Some might find seeing the computers/sound desk stuff distracting, didn't bother me for the quality of the view.

Front stalls of the venue, which are not sloped, unlike the rear section of the stalls, so you can have a very good seat and still have a big head obstructing the view! On the plus side, there is excellent leg room in the seats, and as this was an aisle seat, even better. Must comment on the sound quality, which was superb. Loud enough, but not so loud as to be harsh, and allowed every instrument to be clearly heard. I must be getting old, but with the technology available, this shows there's no excuse for crappy sound. There was criticism on a Facebook page of a lack of atmosphere, saying it's not a good venue for rock music, which is probably fair comment.

I previously posted a view from a seat, in a roughly similar position on the opposite side of this venue. At that show, the ceiling suspended speakers blocked a chunk of the view. On this occasion, with much the same view, the speakers were higher and didn't block the view. That said, the stage is still partly obscured by the balcony edge as seen in the photo, but overall not a bad seat. Sound was very good, as would be expected for a prog band.

Think the pic says it all about the view from my seat. Picked up ticket from the box office, noticed it said “limited view of left side of the stage”. An understatement. Can’t remember if that was highlighted when ticket purchased - it was 2 years ago (covid!!). The Usher Hall in Edinburgh is a classy venue and the stalls, and central parts of the circles will have good views, but it also has some really lousy seating due to the semi-oval shape of the upper circle, which, as seen, severely restricts the view, added to which is the (probably legally required) safety railing. The grand circle below is a near identical shape but doesn’t have the rail other than at the bottom of staircases and then it is one level, I.E. not the double height right in my eyeline. Add to that the wooden seats have a layer of material which has all the cushioning qualities of a sheet of paper. I wouldn’t be put off going to the Usher, but only if I can get a choice of seat.

Stating the obvious - back of the arena, left of centre, not the very back row, but not far off it. Despite this, excellent view, and possibly preferable to being at the back/centre - from the mixing desk seen in the photo, two cables from floor level up to the lighting rig which I think would be slightly irritating, although that's not to say these would be present at every concert etc. Minor downside of seat (apart from it being uncomfortable), being so high, top of big screen at back of stage partially blocked by lightning rig.

Level 2 of the arena, left of centre but still excellent view. Seat directly in front of stairwell, so no-one in front, small glass barrier instead. Some seats in the upper tiers of this venue can have glass barriers above main entry staircases which can (obviously) be seen through, but the top of the barrier can be right in the eyeline, but no such issues with this one. Pity about the drunks behind who talked all through the concert, before one fell forward and landed in seats beside me which luckily were empty. I don't think he damaged the seats...

Seats in venue are unreserved, but give an idea of what to expect. Stalls are usually packed, if like me you prefer to be a bit more comfortable at the expense of some atmosphere, this is the back row of the balcony. Great view.

One man show, so sound quality was never going to be an issue, excellent view (no photos allowed during performance so photo taken before show. And if anyones wondering, those are big prop medicine bottles on the stage!
